「DELICATE FLAME OF DESIRE」 KARNATAKA Amazonで詳しく見る by G-Tools

　女性ボーカルを擁するイギリスのシンフォニックロック・バンドが2003年に発表した3rdアルバム。よく言われていますが、IONA+ALL ABOUT EVEという感じの音楽性で、IONAからあの独特の浮遊感とケルト風味を抜き取って、ALL ABOUT EVEをシンフォニックにしたような透明感溢れる音楽をやっています。長い曲もありますけどプログレ的な複雑な展開はありませんし、IONAよりもロック寄りでメロディもポップですしトラッド風のメロディも登場するので、個人的にはIONAよりもこっちの方が好きです。

　このバンドの看板娘であるボーカルのレイチェル嬢はアニー・ハズラムを彷彿させる伸びやかな声の持ち主で、透明感と暖かさを備えた美しい歌声を聴いているとホントに心が洗われます。このレイチェル嬢はルックスも素晴らしくて超がつくほどの美人なのですが、フルート兼ボーカルのアン・マリー嬢もかなりの美人です（右の写真）。彼女はこの3rdからバンドに参加したらしいのですが、彼女のフルートも幻想的な曲をさらに幻想的にして深みを与えています。また、派手さはないのですが歌心溢れるギターも素晴らしいですね。クリーントーンをメインにメロディアスなフレーズを随所に挿入するそのセンスが秀逸です。

　ということで非常に素晴らしいアルバムなのですが、残念なことに彼らはこのアルバムを最後に解散したみたいです。ただ、彼らのオフィシャルサイトはまだ残っていて、サイトのdownloads→musicのページでこのアルバムの曲が試聴できるようになっています。私のオススメは“Time Standing Still”と“After The Rain”です。
